Summer Flowers

With the turn of the seasons from spring to summer, there has also been a shift in the flowers in bloom. Here are a few early summer flowers that started blooming within the past two weeks.

Monarda didyma, also known as bee balm or Oswego tea.

Another species of Monarda, Monarda fistulosa, usually called wild bergamot.

Woodland sunflowers, Helianthus divaricatus, are also coming into bloom.

Finally, fleabane (Erigeron sp.) is blooming profusely anywhere it is allowed to grow.
